Barbara Vetter (Berlin): Dispositionalism and the problem of necessary masks
Modal dispositionalism is the view that (metaphysical) modality is a matter of the dispositions of objects in the actual world. It is a distinctively localized theory: it sees modal truths as grounded not in entire possible worlds, but in typical cases at least in the modal properties of individual objects. In this paper, I formulate a problem for modal dispositionalism that arises precisely from this localized nature: the problem of necessary masks.
